Dungeons and Dragons

Black Stone, Holy Land Campaign

As part of my Remaining Hours, I DM'd a homebrew D&D campaign with a group of friends. Homebrew means that everything -- the worldbuilding, political situation, enemies, and dungeons -- were crafted by me instead of being pre-prepared in a D&D module. The intrepid party has been pulled into a land analogous to the medieval Middle East during the Islamic Golden Age. This has been an opportunity not only for me to connect with and explore my cultural heritage, but also to bring the party into an intense, exciting, and mystical adventure that challenges them both in their perspective and in their martial prowess. D&D nights have been a really social and fun experience, and everyone looks forward to the imaginative insanity that ensues when we all pick up our dice.

Character Creation

It always takes longer than expected! Little did the party know what they were getting into...

The Party Rolls

"What are the chances we roll 1, 2, 3, and then 4?"

They promptly spent the next ten minutes finding out.

The Clutch of Midnight

The Midnight Desert: the home of spirits, where time and space are equally meaningless. In this shattered world, the party dearly clings onto light and faith and their trusty steel.

Automaton Woes

With an R2-D2 scream, I act out a little automaton soldier being blown up by the party. They're ruthless.

A Ghoulish Sight

As a ghoul wraps its hands around Matthias' neck, he responds in kind, grabbing the creature and casting Inflict Wounds.

Sunless Chambers

"Place your heart into darkness. The sun deceives you."

In the dim, damp darkness of an ancient necropolis, something is moving...
